BW Men's Track Places Third at OAC Gold Split

MARIETTA, OHIO –  The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished third at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Gold Split Meet at Marietta College's Don Drumm Stadium. This was the third meet of the spring for the Yellow Jackets, and the first scored meet.

The Yellow Jacket men scored 112 points to place third. Mount Union was the champion and John Carroll finished in second.

In the field events , senior three-time NCAA Division III All-American Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) won the shot put with a throw of 55-feet and six and one-quarter inches (55'6.25"), hammer throw with a career-best toss of 192'0.5" and won the discus with a throw of 167'6".  His mark in the hammer throw is the second best throw in Division III bettering his previous second place mark by more than four feet.   He is also third in Division III in the shot put with his mark of 55'6.25" bettering his previous third place mark by a foot and six inches.  Also capturing first was senior All-OAC performer Jake Buckey (Geneva), who won the javelin with a throw of 171'2".

In the running events, freshman Ben Biedelman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Academy) won the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.76 and was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team that crossed the finish line at 3:21.83.  The other members of the teams consist of  junior Josiah Holt (Elyria/Midview), freshman Jarod Conrad (West Lafayette/Ridgewood) and sophomore Ryan Weir (Lodi/Cloverleaf).  Also in the running events, sophomore Issac Baker (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.30

BW is back in action next Saturday, April 6 when it travels to Delaware, Ohio to compete at the Ohio Wesleyan University Marv Frye Invitational Meet.
