CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three-time All-American senior Mitch Supan (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) and six other Yellow Jackets posted top-10 finishes to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team on the second day of the University of North Carolina - Charlotte 49er Classic today (Saturday, March 16, 2013) in Charlotte, N.C. BW competed last weekend at the Coastal Carolina University Relays before spending last week in Jacksonville, Fla. to train. The meet was unscored.
Mitch Supan led the Yellow Jacket men, posting a pair of top-10 finishes by coming in second place in the men's shot put (54-5.50) and in fourth in the discus (174-5.00). His discus throw was a career-best.
Freshman Ben Biedelman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Academy) teamed with All-American juniors Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/ Medina Buckeye), Josiah Holt (Elyria/ Grafton Midview) and Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) and placed fifth in the men's 4-by-100-meter relay in a season-best time of 42.38. Biedelman and Holt also joined freshman Jarod Conrad (West Lafayette/ Ridgewood) and sophomore Ryan Weir (Lodi/ Cloverleaf) to clock a 3:21.70 in the 4-by-400-meter relay, placing sixth.
BW returns north and next competes Saturday, March 30 at the Ohio Athletic Conference East Split Meet at Marietta College.
