Eight BW Football PLayers Named All-OAC

BEREA, Ohio --  Eight Baldwin Wallace University players have been named to the 2013 All-Ohio Athletic COnference football team.

Selected to the first-team were senior offensive guard Jason Cook (Strretsboro) and senior punter Matt Harmon (Canfield). Named to the second-team are senior wide receiver/running back Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview), senior placekicker Chris Mohler (Kent/Roosevelt), junior defensive end Luke Riemenschneider (Rocky River) and senior linebacker David Flegal (Akron/Revere). Named as honorable mention selections were senior offensive guard Alex Lovasz (North Ridgeville) and junior linebacker Dan O'Brien (Warren/Howland).  Cook, Holt and Mohler are repeat selections to the All-OAC squad.

Cook was an anchor on an offensive line that helped the Yellow Jackets score 26.1 points and average 352.4 yards per game of total offense, includimng 236 rushing yards per game. He earned second-team All-OAC accolades in 2012. He was a four-year starter on the line.

Harmon had his finest season. The four-year starter led the OAC in punting with a 41.6-yard average in 45 attempts, and more importantly had a 39.5-yard net average and dropped 22-of-his-45 punts inside the opposition's 20-yard line.  His 41.6-yard average ranked eighth in Division III. Harmon also earned OAC Special Teams Player of the Week versus Muskingum University.

Holt earns All-OAC honors for the third straight year and is on the second-team for the first time. He previously was named first-team as a sophomore return specialist and last fall as a first-team WR. Despite missing the first three games of the season with an injury, the versitile Holt led the team in rushing with 579 yards in 78 attempts (7.4 yards per carry) with five touchdowns and caught 23 passes for 225 yards and two more TD's.  He ends his career with more than 3,000 all-purpose yards and 20 TD's. Holt was the OAC Offensive Player of the Week and earned the Frank Ropollo Homecoming Player of the Game Award versus Ohio Northern University.

Mohler is the second-team All-OAC kicker for the second straight season. He led the team in scoring with 51 points and had his finest season as a collegian. He connected on all seven of his field goal chances, including a career-long 38-yarder and made 30-of-32 point-after-touchdown (PAT) kicks.  Mohler earned OAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors versus Bluffton University.

Riemenschneider anchored the Yellow Jacket defensive line and led all linemen with 63 tackles, including team-leading totals of 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 QB sacks. He also batted down a pass, forced five bad passes and recovered a fumble. For his efforts versus ONU, Riemenschneider was the OAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Flegal had his best season as a collegian and was second in the OAC with 114 tackles, including 2.5 for loss. He also had one forced and two recovered fumbles. He was twice named as the OAC Defensive Player of the Week, the first time versus Bluffton and again versus Marietta College. In addition to his exploits on the field, Flegal is a two-time Academic All-OAC choice and a 2013 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 student-athlete who currently appears on the CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America national ballot.

Lovasz joined Cook as a four-year member of the Yellow Jacket offensive line. During their four years, BW averaged nearly 30 points and 380 yards of offense per game.

O'Brien was another standout who had his best season as a Yellow Jacket. He made 68 tackles to rank second on the team, including seven for loss and three QB sacks. He led the team with three interceptions, including one he returned for a TD, broke up one pass, forced one fumble and recovered another. O'Brien earned OAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades versus Muskingum.

The Yellow Jackets finished 6-4 overall in 2013 and had their 44th winning season (plus one .500 season) in the past 48 years. BW has one of the winningest football programs in NCAA Division III and in all of college football.
