BW Football Team Wins 54-7 at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference flanker Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview) and sophomore running back Issac Reed III (Lehigh Acres, Fla. / Lehigh) each scored a pair of touchdowns as the Baldwin Wallace University football team defeated Wilmington College, 54-7, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at Williams Stadium.

The Quakers (0-6, 0-5 OAC) took an early 7-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets (4-2, 3-2 OAC) scored 54 unanswered points.  BW led 19-7 after one quarter, 26-7 at halftime and 48-7 after three periods. BW outgained Wilmington in total offense, 385-220, including 287 on the ground.
  
BW was led on offense by Holt with 81 yards rushing on nine carries and the two scores while Reed rushed for a season-best 76 yards on 11 carries and two TDS.   Junior quarterback Michael Slack (Casselberry, Fla./Pine Castle Christian Academy) completed 4-of-7 passes for 70 yards and had two TDs (one rushing). Junior QB Kyle Ohradzansky (Avon/ Canton McKinley) also completed four of five passes for 28 yards.  Senior All-OAC wide receiver Kevin Johnson (Maple Height/St. Ignatius) caught three passes for 52 yards, including a one-handed 43-yard TD reception.   The Yellow Jacket defense that forced one fumble, had one interception and had four sacks was led by defensive lineman Addison Carbone (Hudson) with five tackles.
Offensively the Quakers were led by senior QB Brandon Arehart as he completed 17-of-36 passes for 169 yards with a TD and an interception.  Zak Kruer led the rushing attack with 54 yards on 17 carries.  Jeremy Duncan caught six passes for 94 to lead the receiving corps. The defense which had four sacks and recovered two fumbles was led by Tarrell Starckey with a game-high seven tackles.
 
In the first quarter, Wilmington scored its only points of the game on a 12-yard pass from Arehart to Tyler Tarnowski. BW got two touchdown runs of five yards and 27-yards from Holt and an 89-yard interception return from junior defensive back Nelson Candelario (Cape Coral, Fla. / Island Coast).  Senior placekicker Chris Mohler (Kent/Roosevelt) converted one of two extra points while another snap was botched and the pass attempt failed.
The Yellow Jackets got their lone score in the second quarter on a 10-yard run by Reed and Mohler tacked on the extra point.
In the third quarter, BW scored three more times as Slack scored on a 19-yard scamper and hooked up with Johnson on a 43-yard TD.  Junior running back Nolan Sordyl (Gurnee, Ill. / Warren Township) scored on a 1-yard plunge.  Mohler added all three extra points.
The Yellow Jackets closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter when Reed scored his second and final TD on a 2-yard run.  Mohler added the PAT.
