BEREA, OHIO --  2003 Baldwin Wallace University and 1999 Middleburg Heights Midpark High School (now Berea-Midpark) graduate Matt Kish is a two-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American for a good reason. He’s smart!  And he showed his intelligence on the popular game show Jeopardy last night by beating two other challengers.

The current social studies teacher at North Royalton High School who was an outstanding offensive guard for the Yellow Jacket football team (1999-2002) won $23,201 on his first day.  He was winning most of the night, including after both Single and Double Jeopardy and correctly answered the Final Jeopardy question:  “At 4,000 miles the farthest-apart capitals of bordering countries are these two cities, one on a peninsula.”  The answer was Moscow in Russia and Pyongyang in North Korea. Tonight, Friday, March 14, 2014, he will look to become a two-time champion. You can tune in on WOIO TV-19 in the Cleveland area at 7:30 p.m.

While at BW, Kish played four years of football and earned three varsity letters. As a senior, he showed his excellent leadership qualities and was selected as a team captain.  The Dean’s List student who carried a 3.98 grade point average during his undergraduate days and earned his Master’s degree from BW, was a two-time first-team Academic All-America selection. He also was BW’s Clyde Lamb Award winner, symbolic of the school’s most outstanding male student-athlete, and a National Football Fondation Scholar-Athlete.
