BW Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Wins Season-Opening Mid-January Meet

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team opened its 2011 season with a team title tonight (Friday, January 21) at the BW Mid-January Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea. The BW women finished with 226 points.

Senior All-American track and cross country runner Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) won the one mile run with a time of 5:11.25 and the 1000-meter run in 3:05.99. Senior pentathlete Emily Oliver (Waynesburg/ Sandy Valley) won the high jump with a mark of 5'1.75" and the 55-meter hurdles in 8.87 seconds. Freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ South) won the 500-meter run in 1:22.27 and freshman Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) won the 800-meter run in 2:29.40. Sophomore Stephanie Shockley (Tiffin/ Columbian) won the pole vault clearing 10-feet. Sophomore Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/ Midpark) won the weight throw with a throw of 50'5.5". Oliver also combined with freshman Nicole Smith (Geneva), sophomore Kaylan Lemon (Canton/ Perry) and sophomore Brittany Sterling (Lima/ Senior) to win the 4 x 400-meter relay in 4:19.33.

The track and field team will be back in action next Saturday, January 29 when they travel to Columbus to participate in the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays hosted by Capital University. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

The next BW home indoor track and field meet is Friday, February 11 when BW hosts the Mid-February Meet at 5:00 p.m. In addition, BW is the host school for the 2011 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 25-26.
