BW Senior Emily Oliver Finishes 12th in Heptathlon at NCAA Div. III National Meet

DELAWARE, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University senior All-American pentathlete Emily Oliver (Waynesburg/ Sandy Valley) finished 12th of 22 competitors in the seven-event heptathlon today Friday, May 27) at the 2011 NCAA Division III National Track & Field Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. She is the first of four Yellow Jackets who compete today.

Oliver, who earned All-American accolades this winter with a third place finish in the five-event pentathlon at the 20011 NCAA Division III National Indoor Championship Meet at Capital University in March and placed 15th in the heptathlon at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet at BW, scored 4,483 points to finish the meet and her career four points shy of her own personal-record of 4,487 points.

Today, Oliver placed 13xth in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet and 5.25-inches to earn 562 points, placed 21st in the javelin with a throw of 82'9" and good for 387 points and placed fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:23.22 and good for 780 points.

Yesterday (Thursday, May 26), Oliver placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 14.99 seconds for 843 points, 10th in the high jump with a leap of 5'0.5" for 666 points, 13th in the shot put with a throw of 32'4.24" for 520 points and was 18th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.84 for 725 points.

In addition to being an outstanding pentathlete/ heptathlete, Oliver, a chemistry major, is an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District IV student-athlete who carried a better than 3.5 grade average.

In addition to Oliver today, three-time All-American distance ace Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) competes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 9:00 p.m.  BW has more individual competitors at the national meet than any other Ohio Div. III school.
