Chinn Resets Mile Record as BW Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete at Mount Union Last Chance Meet

ALLIANCE, OHIO - Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track & field team competed at the University of Mount Union Last Chance Meet today (Saturday, March 5) at Peterson Fieldhouse. Highlighting the meet for BW was senior track and cross country All-American Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) who reset her own school record in the one mile run and improved her NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a winning time of 4:58.79.
 
In the weight throw, sophomore Stefani Graber (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan) and sophomore Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/Midpark) finished first and second, respectively. Graber won with a throw of 52'2.75" and Perrine was second with a mark of 52'1.75".
 
Senior multi-event athlete Emily Oliver (Waynesburg/Sandy Valley) competed in three events, finishing third in the 400-meter dash (1:01.97), fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.69) and fifth in the shot put (34'3.50").
 
This was BW's final indoor meet prior to next weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Capital University in Columbus.
 
The Yellow Jackets enter next weekend's national meet with several athletes provisionally qualified and one athlete, senior four-time All-American thrower Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) who is automatically qualified in the weight throw and shot put.
 
The provisional qualifiers are Oliver in the pentathlon, Graber and Perrine in the weight throw, Chinn in the mile, the women's distance medley relay team, Eddy in the pole vault, Marinucci in the shot put and Supan in the weight throw and shot put.
 
An official list of the competitors for the national meet is expected to be released by the NCAA on Monday.
