Yellow Jacket Women Finish First at Division III All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Meet

GAMBIER, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field teams competed at the 2011 Division III All-Ohio Meet hosted by Kenyon College at the Kenyon Athletic Center in Gambier. The Yellow Jacket women placed first of 18 teams.

Senior track and cross country All-American Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) won the one mile run in a school-record time of 5:03.70. Chinn's time also provisionally qualified her for the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet hosted by Capital University on March 11-12. 

Chinn was also a member of the first place distance medley relay team. She combined with freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby/South), freshman Nicole Smith (Geneva) and freshman Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) to cross the line in an NCAA provisional time of 12:10.96. Sophomore sprinter Kaylan Lemon (Canton/ Massillon Perry) placed second in both the 55-meter dash and in the 200-meter dash finishing with times of 7.52 and 26.41 seconds, respectively.  

Lemon was also a part of a the 4x200 meter relay as she combined with sophomores Lauren Nanni (Parma/ Padua Franciscan), Jessica Ballard (Cardington/ Buckeye Valley), and Smith as they crossed the finish line in a time of 1:49.23 to place them third. In the 800-meter run Hradisky placed fourth and Clapacs placed fifth finishing with times of 2:22.31 and 2:22.83, respectively.

In the 55 meter hurdles senior Emily Oliver (Waynesburg/ Sandy Valley) finished in 8.73 seconds which placed her fourth in that event. Oliver also competed in the high jump and triple jump placing fourth in both events as well. In the high jump, Oliver jumped 5'1.25" and in the triple jump she jumped 33'8.00".  

In the field events, BW swept the weight throw as sophomore Stefani Graber (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan) won with a mark of 51 feet, nine and one quarter inches. Junior Leslie Purnell (Springfield/Catholic Central) was second at 51'5" and sophomore Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/Midpark) was third at 48'10".  Perrine also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 40'11.75".

The next BW home indoor track and field meet is Friday, February 18 when BW hosts the Greater Cleveland Championships at 5:00 p.m. BW will also compete at the Kent State Invite on Saturday, February 19.
