BEXLEY, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University men and women indoor track and field teams both placed first at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Relay Meet today (Saturday, January 29, 2011) in the Capital Center at host Capital University in Columbus. This was the second week of winter competition. The men scored 90 points and the women scored 106.50 to win the meet.
Senior All-American track and cross country runner Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) won the 3000 meter run relay with a time of 10:25.58 and also placed first in the 4x800 meter relay with the help of two freshman runners in Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ Willoughby South), Brooke Hradisky (Aurora), and sophomore Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South) finishing in a time of 9:51.66. In the weight throw relay, Stefani Graber (North Royalton/ Padua Franciscan), Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/ Midpark), and Leslie Purnell (Springfield/ Catholic Central) placed first, second and third, respectively. Graber and Perrine combined for a relay throw of 103'10.25" which set a new OAC Relays record. Graber's throw of 53'6.25" provisionally qualifies her for the 2011 NCAA Div. III national meet and also set the BW school record.
The BW track and field teams will be back in action next Saturday, February 5 when the Yellow Jackets travel to Alliance to compete at the Jim Wuske Invitational Meet at the University of Mount Union in the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex at 11:00 p.m. The next BW home indoor track and field meet is Friday, February 11 when BW hosts the Mid-February Meet at 5:00 p.m. In addition, BW is the host school for the 2011 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 25-26.
