BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University senior four-time Division III All-American thrower Kevin Phipps (Reynoldsburg/ Watkins Memorial) is this week's (March 22, 2011) Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Phipps earned his award for his record-shattering performance in the hammer and discus events at a meet last Friday and Saturday (March 18-19) at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Scott earned his honor for being the fourth baseball pitcher in school history to throw a no-hitter when the Yellow Jackets defeated Ohio Christian University, 12-0, on Saturday.

Phipps broke two of his own school records from last year by placing third in the hammer throw with a toss of 198-feet and third in the discus throw with a mark of 174"0'. Phipps also automatically qualified in both events for the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio from May 26-28.  This is the sixth time in Phipps career that he has earned OAC Field Event Athlete of the Week honors.
