COLUMBUS, OHIO -- BW senior Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) participated on day two (Saturday, March 12) of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Capital University.
In addition, senior four-time All-American thrower Phipps participated in the shot put and finished fourth in his flight with a best throw of 48 feet, 10 and three quarter inches, which did not advance him to the final.
Yesterday, Phipps finished ninth in the weight throw with a best mark of 61"4'. Phipps will look to repeat as an All-American in the outdoor season in the hammer throw and go for three straight All-America awards in the discus throw. Phipps owns school records in the indoor shot put (56"1') and weight throw (62"3.25') and outdoor discus (172"11') and hammer throws (194"10').
Chinn and Phipps will now shift gears to outdoor track & field as they will join the rest of the BW track & field teams next weekend (Friday and Saturday, March 18-19) at the UNC-Charlotte 49er Classic.
