BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team competed today (Friday, February 11) at the BW Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center. The BW men had one individual place finisher in a non-scoring meet.
The Yellow Jacket men were led by junior distancerunner Andrew Beck (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) who placed first in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:40.63. Junior Gabe Adams (Hudson) jumped a distance of 19'0" to place him sixth in the long jump and jumped a distance of 39"1.25' to place fifth in the triple jump. In the 5,000 meter run sophomore distance runner Nicholas Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) placed fourth finishing in a time of 16:27.40.
For the women, sophomore distance runner Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) led the way by winning the one-mile run and placing fifth in the 800 meter run. She recorded times of 5:32.43 and 2:32.98, respectively. Placing first in the 5,000 meter run was freshman distance runner Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/ Midview) as she finished in a time of 19:25.21, and junior distance runner Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) finished third in the same event in a time of 19:48.51. Sophomore distance runner Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South) finished fourth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:41.65.
The BW track and field teams will be back in tomorrow Saturday, February 12 when they travel to Gambier to participate in the All-Ohio Meet hosted by Kenyon College. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. The next BW home indoor track and field meet is Friday, February 18 when BW hosts the Greater Cleveland Championships at 5:00 p.m. In addition, BW is the host school for the 2011 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 25-26.
