Baldwin Wallace Student-Athlete Selected As OAC Player of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore thrower Mitch Supan (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) are this week's (February 14, 2011) Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week. This is the first time Supan has won the award.

Supan, who earned NCAA Division III All-American honors last spring with an eighth place finish in the discus and competed at the 2010 USA Track & Field Junior National Meet last summer, earned his award by placing second in both the shot put with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying throw of 51-feet and three inches and 35-pound weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 57'9.75'. His efforts helped the Yellow Jackets to place second of 19 teams at the All-Ohio Meet.

To date, Supan has helped the men's track team, 34-1 overall, win meet titles at the BW Mid-January and 2011 OAC Relay Meet.  The Yellow Jacket track and field teams are back in action on Friday, Feb. 18 when they host the annual Greater Cleveland College Championship Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center. The field events begin at 4:15 p.m. and the running events at 5:30 p.m.
