WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA -- Two Baldwin Wallace University multi-event athletes competed in the first day of the Wake Forest (N.C.) University Demon Deacon Combined Events meet on Tuesday, May 10.
In the decathlon, freshman pole vault specialist Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) is in 14th place with 3.071 points and freshman Josh Price (North Olmsted) is in 17th place with 2,495 after five of ten total events. Eddy and Price are the two lone Division III athletes in the meet and will compete in the 110-meter high hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run on the final day.
Eddy took eighth in the high jump with a leap of 6" 1.25' (679 pts), 18th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.99 (653 pts), 13th in the long jump with a distance of 20" 1.75' (617 pts), 16th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.89 (644 pts) and 18th in the shot put with a throw of 32"5'(478 pts).
Price was 12th in the high jump with a jump of 5"8.5' (602 pts), 14th in the shot put with a throw of 35"11.5' (543 pts), 15th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.43 (663), 16th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.82 (687 pts) and did not mark in the long jump,
In addition, other members of the outdoor track and field team will travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania this Friday, May 13 to compete in the annual Allegheny College Gator Invitational. The final "last chance" meets take place from May 17-20 at either North Central College or Augustana College in the Chicago, Illinois area. The 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio is on May 26-28.
