ALLIANCE, OHIO -- Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track & field teams competed at the University of Mount Union Last Chance Meet today (Saturday, March 5) at Peterson Fieldhouse.

In addition, sophomore outdoor All-American thrower Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) improved his NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw with a mark of 58 feet, six inches. Sophomore Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) won the shot put and hit the NCAA provisional standard with a throw of 51"3.75'.  Supan also finished second in the shot put (50"11').

Freshman Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) finished third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14"7.25'.

Freshman Josh Price (North Olmsted) competed in the five-event pentathlon and finished third with 2,689 points. Price started off the day well, winning the 55-meter hurdles (8.04) and long jump (21'3.25'). However, a foul in the shot put cost Price a chance at reaching the NCAA qualifying standard. He completed the event with third place finishes in the high jump (5'8.75') and 1000-meter run (3:08.00).

This was BW's final indoor meet prior to next weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Capital University in Columbus.

The Yellow Jackets enter next weekend's national meet with several athletes provisionally qualified and one athlete, senior four-time All-American thrower Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) who is automatically qualified in the weight throw and shot put.

The provisional qualifiers are Eddy in the pole vault, Marinucci in the shot put and Supan in the weight throw and shot put.

An official list of the competitors for the national meet is expected to be released by the NCAA on Monday.
