The Yellow Jackets earned a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Toughey ht his second home run of the season.

BW increased its lead to 7-0 in the second when freshman second baseman Mark Zimmerman (Akron/ Green) walked and moved to third base on a single by junior transfer catcher Chaz McGrain (Valley City/ Olmsted Falls). After McGrain was thrown out trying to steal second, senior All-OAC center fielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria) was hit by a pitch. Both Zimmerman and Neuschaefer scored when Toughey tripled, and he scored when a Wilmington throw trying to get him at third base sailed into the BW dugout for a 4-0 lead. After a second out, the lead grew to 5-0 when sophomore All-OAC first baseman Kyle Chontos (Pickerington/ North) triple and scored via a catcher's interference call. Then sophomore right fielder Alex Green singled, advanced to second when freshman designated hitter Hunter Handel (Akron/ Green) walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and then sophomore shortstop Eric Murphy (Brook Park/ Middleburg Heights Midpark) walked to load the bases. The lead moved to 7-0 when Zimmerman singled home Green and Handel, and to 10-0 when McGrain hit his first career homer, a three-run shot.

The Yellow Jackets increased their lead to 11-0 in the third when Toughey had his second triple of the game and scored when junior third baseman Brad Gugliotta (Twinsburg) singled.

In the fourth inning, Wilmington got on the scoreboard when it tallied three times to trail, 11-3.  Undaunted, BW came right back with three more runs to lead 14-3. Senior Matt Kulick (Wilmot/ Navarre Fairless) singled but was erased at second base when McGrain reached on a fielder's choice. Freshman CF John Taylor (Stow/ Hudson) sent McGrain to third when he singled. After Taylor was eliminated at second base when Toughey reached on a fielder's choice, Gugliotta walked to load the bases. Chontos scored McGrain and Toughey with a single and freshman RF Jerry Scholle (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) doubled home Chontos.

The Quakers crept a bit closer with three runs in the fifth to make it 14-6.

BW's lead grew to 15-6 in the sixth as Toughey walked advanced to second when freshman Rob Rising (Bay Village/ Bay) reached on an error, moved to third when Scholle walked and scored when Handel walked.

He was replaced by freshman righty Matt Wittels (Lyndhurst/ Brush) pitched the sixth inning and allowed one hit and no runs.
