Women's Tennis Competes in Final Day of Oberlin Invite

OBERLIN, OHIO --   The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team competed in the final day of the three-day  Oberlin College Invitational Tournament today (Sunday, September 16, 2012). One Yellow Jacket had a perfect day. This was the second of three weekend's of fall competition for the BW women.

Freshman Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) was unbeaten in both her singles and doubles matches today. Donalson defeated Kenyon College's Samantha Murphy by the scores of 7-6 (7-5) and 6-3. In doubles action, Donalson teamed with junior Whitney Yoder (Medina/ Senior) to shut out John Carroll University's Emily Gorndt and Katelyn Hill by an 8-0 count.

In addition in singles play, freshman Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) also won as she beat Meredith Lee of Case Western Reserve University, 6-4, 6-7 (1-7) and 10-5 in the tie-breaker. In doubles play, sisters of freshman Mackenzi and junior Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) beat Kimberly Carter and Melanie Chin of The College of Wooster, 8-3.

The BW women wrap up the fall portion of its 2012 fall season at the annual ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Region Tournament from Sept. 28-30 at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
