BW Women's Tennis Team Loses To Mt. Union, 6-3

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to the University of Mount Union, 6-3, today (Saturday, April 6, 2013) at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea.  It was the home opener for the Yellow Jackets. 

Highlighting the match was senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC No. 1 singles and doubles standout Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Catholic), who won her 50th career singles match and 54th career doubles match.

Mittler's singles win moved her into 11th place on the school's all-time win list. Mittler beat Mount Union's MacKenzie Jenkins by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4 to improve to 50-43 in singles for her career.  In doubles, Mittler and freshman Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) beat Mount Union's Jenkins and Courtney Adamsky by an 8-2 score for her 54th career doubles win to move into eighth place all-time.

In addition to Mittler winning in singles, and in doubles with Blatt, senior All-OAC No. 5 singles player Danielle Rueger (Ashland/ Senior) defeated Mt. Union's Adamsky by the scores of 7-5 and 6-4.

With its loss, BW falls to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the OAC. With its victory, Mt. Union is 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the OAC.    
 
 The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, April 9 when they host Capital University on the Collins Courts at 4:00 p.m.
