OBERLIN, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team competed today at the first day of the Oberlin College Invitational.  Due to the inclement weather, single matches were washed out and only doubles matches were played inside the Heisman Field house and at Fox Creek Country Club

The tournament will resume on Saturday morning as singles matches will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Don Hunsinger Tennis Courts.

In their first match as partners, junior Whitney Yoder (Medina) and freshman Mackenzi Donalson (Hilliard/Davidson) picked up the lone Yellow Jacket victory as they defeated Whitney Lonnemann and Alex Webb of Ohio Wesleyan, 9-8 and 9-7 in the tiebreaker.

Also in action, was senior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) and junior Elizabeth Keller (Cincinnati/Walnut Hills) who fell to Kimberly Carter and Melanie Chin of Wooster by a score of 8-3. Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) and freshman Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) were defeated by Amanda Polster and Madison Hoffman of Kenyon by a score of 8-2. Junior Morgan Baker (Vermilion/Elyria Catholic) and freshman sister Mackenzi Baker (Vermilion/Elyria Catholic) lost their match to Tracy Gorndt and Katelyn Hill of John Carroll by a score of 8-6.

Following the final two days of the Oberlin Invitational, the BW women wrap up the fall portion of its schedule 2012 fall season at the annual ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Region Tournament from Sept. 28-30.
