BW Women's Tennis Falls to Denison

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to Denison University, 9-0, today (Tuesday, March 12, 2012) at the Hilton Head Beach & Resort on the third day of their Annual Spring Break trip.

With its loss, BW falls to 1-6 overall and is 1-3 on its annual spring break trip. With its win, Denison improves to 5-2 this season.

Denison led, 3-0, after doubles play, and won all six singles matches to capture the victory.

In doubles play, the No. 3 tandem of freshman Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) and junior Whitney Yoder (Medina/ Senior) won two games, but fell to freshmen Emma Forman and Meg Chiumento, 8-2.

No. 5 All-OAC senior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) pushed freshman Frances Hinkamp into a tiebreaker, but eventually lost, 9-7.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow when they face Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.) University at 8:00 a.m. and then play Greenville (Ill.) College at 3:30 p.m.

The first northern match is at Division III powerhouse Kenyon College on March 22, the first Ohio Athletic Conference match is on March 27 at Muskingum University and the first home match at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Complex is against The College of Wooster on April 3 at 4:30 p.m.

The BW women's tennis program is in a rebuilding stage. The Yellow Jacket women have won four of the past six OAC titles and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament four times.
