Women's Tennis Competes on Day One of ITA Championships

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team competed in the first day of the three-day 2012 USTA/ITA Division III Women's Tennis 
Central Regional Championships on the first day of the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Regional Tournament hosted by Washington University.

In singles action, senior Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) won her first round of singles today shutting out Lauren Kaczmarck of Augustana (Ill.) College by the scores of 6-0 and 6-0. In addition, junior Morgan Baker (Vermillion/Elyria Catholic) defeated Madeline Morris of DePauw (Ind.) University by the scores of 7-6 (8-6) and 6-4. Freshman Mackenzie Donalson (Hillard/Davidson) defeated Kathleen Kennedy of Webster (Mo.) University by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

In doubles action, Mittler teamed with, freshman Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) to shut out Kenyon College's Samantha Betts and Heather Fantry by an 8-0 count.

After the completion of the ITA Championships, the Yellow Jackets will have completed their fall portion of the schedule and will resume action on February 9 when they travel to nearby Oberlin for a non-conference match with Oberlin College at 9:00 a.m.
