BW Women’s Tennis Team Falls to Charleston in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to NCAA Division II University of Charleston (W.Va.), 9-0, today (Sunday, March 10, 2013) at the Hilton Head Beach & Resort on the first day of their Annual Spring Break trip. The Yellow Jackets will play six matches in four days in Hilton Head.

With its loss, BW falls to 0-4 in dual matches.   Charleston improves to 11-5 overall.

The University of Charleston took a 3-0 lead after the doubles matches and won all six singles matches to earn the victory.

In doubles play, the No. 1 tandem of senior Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) and freshman Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) won six games, but fell 8-6.

At No. 2 singles, Blatt won a team-high seven games, but fell in each set, 6-3 and 6-4.  

Tomorrow, the Yellow Jackets have a pair of matches as they play Edgewood (Wisc.) University at 8:00 a.m. and then play Tusculum (Tenn.) at 3:00 p.m. The first northern match is at Division III powerhouse Kenyon College on March 22, the first Ohio Athletic Conference match is on March 27 at Muskingum University and the first home match at the "Pop" Collins Tennis Complex is against The College of Wooster on April 3 at 4:30 p.m.
