Softball Drops First Game of OAC Tournament Championship Series to Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The third seeded Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped the first game of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Series to top-seeded and host the University of Mount Union on the 23rd Street Softball Field.

BW (28-15) and Mount Union (35-9) will now play in a winner take all game for the OAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 13 at 12 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets scored three runs on nine hits as it plated one run in the third and two in the fifth.  The Purple Raiders scored five runs on four hits as they pushed three across the plate in the third and two in the fifth. 

At the Plate

  • Junior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-3 with a double
  • Freshman first baseman Gillian Ryser (Hubbard) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored
  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second baseman Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), sophomore third baseman Sara Frederickson (Lake Balboa, Calif./Notre Dame), freshman left fielder Macaira Fox (Massillon/Tuslaw), freshman right fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) and freshman shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald) each had a base hit
  • Mau had a run scored
  • Fox had a double and run batted-in (RBI)
  • Mraz had a double and 2 RBIs

In the Circle

  • Sophomore right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) took the loss as she allowed five runs (one earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks
