Two Softball Student-Athletes Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

BEREA, Ohio – Two Baldwin Wallace University softball student-athletes have been named to College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic-All District Team.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference infielder Alicia Saxton (Boardman) and All-Ohio Athletic Conference second baseman Emily Mau (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) have been tabbed to CSC All-District Team and now advance to Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced on June 6.

Saxton, who garners her first accolade, carried a 3.990 grade point average in applied mathematics.   This season, she appeared in 23 games and recorded nine hits, nine runs batted-in (RBIs), eight walks, one double and her first career triple at Oberlin on April 13.

For her career, Saxton appeared in 79 games and batted .279 (48-of-172).  She tallied 23 RBIs, 19, walks, eight doubles five stolen bases and one triple.  Saxton also had 77 putouts and 58 assists.  She was a 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III All-Region Seven first-team selection and All-OAC first-team selection. 

Off the field, Saxton is a two-time Academic All-OAC performer, a two-time BW Academic Excellence Award winner for highest GPA on softball team, BW Academic Excellence Award winner for highest GPA of junior and senior classes, Dean's List Student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

Mau, who garners her first honor, carries a 3.974 grade point average in early childhood education.  This season, she led the team and was third in the OAC with a career-high tying 18 stolen bases and was tied for team lead with 22 runs batted in (RBIs). Mau batted .357 with three doubles, two inside the park homeruns, one triple, 46 runs scored and four walks. 

For her career, Mau has appeared in 109 games and is batting .369 (137-of-371).  She ranks third all-time in school history with 51 stolen bases and 12th with 84 runs scored.  Mau has tallied 14 doubles, three inside the park homeruns, two triples, 41 RBIs, 20 walks, 167 putouts and 139 assists.  She is a three-time All-OAC selection.

Off the field, Mau is an Academic All-OAC performer, Dean's List Student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. 

BW finished the season with an overall record of 28-16 and placed third in the OAC with a mark of 12-6.  The Yellow Jackets won two games in the OAC Tournament before falling in the OAC Tournament Championship series.
