Volleyball Splits a Pair at the Hiram College Invitational

HIRAM, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team split it's pair of matches at the Hiram College Invitational, to Hiram College and Penn. (Pa.) St.-Altoona, inside the Price Gymnasium. 

BW vs Hiram

In the opening match of the Invitational, BW (14-1) fell to Hiram in three sets: 25-20, 25-19, 25-20. Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) led the attack with seven kills. Junior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) and sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) each had six kills. Junior setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) distributed 22 assists, while Earl landed three service aces.

Junior Academic All-OAC and All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) led the match with her 17 digs, and Earl recorded 14. Sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance), Egan, and Earl each had a solo block.

BW vs. Penn. St.-Altoona

The Yellow Jackets defeated Penn. St.- Altoona in four sets in the second match of the day: 25-19, 19-25, 26-24, 25-19. The offense was led by Earl as she led the match with 17 kills. Garrett accumulated 14 kills. Sophomore defensive specialist Isabella Moskowitz (Brighton, Mich.) led the match with three service aces and amassed a career-high 44 assists.

Sophomore defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) led the match with a career-high 22 digs. Reinhard dug up 20 attacks and Earl tallied 14.

BW will compete next in the Blue Jay Classic, hosted by Elizabethtown (Pa.) College. The first match will be on Friday, September 27 at 8 pm against the host, Elizabethtown. Saturday, the Yellow Jackets will contest Eastern (Pa.) University at 10 am and will play Marywood (Pa.) University at 12 pm.
