Volleyball Takes Two Victories to Start the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, Remains Undefeated

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team improves to 10-0 after two non-conference victories to start the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, hosted by the College of Wooster. 

BW vs. Hiram

In the first match of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, BW defeated Hiram College in five sets: 25-15, 27-29, 25-17, 19-25, and 15-7. The offensive was led by sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) as she marked a match-high 17 kills. Junior All-OAC middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) tallied 14 while junior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor) set a career-high with 13 kills. Junior setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) facilitated the offense with her 44 assists, and also added four kills. Freshman middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) kept the oppostition on their heels with three service aces while sophomore defensive specialist Isabella Moskowitz (Brighton, Mich.), junior Academic All-OAC libero Sydni Colchagoff (Findlay/Liberty-Benton), and junior Academic All-OAC and All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) each had two.

Defensively, Reinhard recoded 23 digs while Earl totaled 15. Sophomore defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) contributed with 14 digs and Egan pitched in with 13. Earl protected the net with two assisted blocks.

BW vs. Bluffton

The Yellow Jackets defeated Bluffton University in straight sets: 25-19, 25-14, and 25-20. The attack was led by sophomore outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) as she had a game-high kills and Earl marked nine. Brown marked eight and Garrett tallied seven. Egan distributed a match-high 28 assists and added five kills to her line. Earl and Colchagoff each amassed three service aces.

Reinhard protected the floor with a match-high 16 digs and Earl had 11. Luciano defended the nylon with two assisted blocks.

The Yellow Jackets continue action in the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic tomorrow with another double-header. At 11 am, BW will square off against Colby (Maine) College and at 3 pm, will face the University of Pitt. Bradford (Pa.).
