AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Eleven Baldwin Wallace University volleyball student-athletes have been chosen to the 2019 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Senior All-OAC outside hitter Allyson Smith (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit), junior defensive specialist Sydni Colchagoff (Findlay/Liberty-Benton), junior middle hitter Allison May (Louisville/Saint Thomas Aquinas), junior middle hitter Kail Nicholas (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee), junior All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South), sophomore outside hitter Madeline Bednar (Chagrin Falls/Kenston), sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.), sophomore defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity), sophomore defensive specialist Isabella Moskowitz (Brighton, Mich.), sophomore outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) and sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Mary Zurbrugg (Alliance) are 11 of 57 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.
Smith, who garners her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a communications sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.56 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. In her career, Smith is an All-OAC player and has appeared in 63 matches with 467 kills, 118 digs, 41 blocks, and 13 service aces.
Colchagoff, who garners her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a public health major and carries a 3.78 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Colchagoff has appeared in 53 matches and has recorded 245 digs, 37 service aces, and 36 assists.
May, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC award, is a pre-physical therapy and athletic training double major who carries a 3.59 GPA. Academically, she is a Dean's List student. For her career she has appeared in 30 matches with 52 kills, 24 blocks, 19 digs, and 15 service aces.
Nicholas, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a psychology and national security double major who carries a 3.78 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. In her career she has appeared in 39 matches and has tallied 131 kills, 56 blocks, and 16 digs.
Reinhard earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade and is an athletic training and pre-physical therapy double major who carries a 3.70 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. On the court she is a two-time All-Tournament team selection, an All-OAC player, and a one-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree. For her career, she has appeared in 92 matches and has recorded 1,506 digs, good for eighth on BW's all-time career digs list, 211 assists and 93 service aces.
Bednar, who earns her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a biology major who carries a 3.76 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Bednar has appeared in 10 matches and has recorded six kills, five blocks, and one dig.
Earl, who collects her first Academic All-OAC award, is a biology and pre-med double major who carries a 3.90 GPA. An All-OAC athlete and one-time Player of the Week honoree, Earl is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. In her career, she has appeared 59 matches and compiled 541 kills, 505 digs, 62 service aces, 40 blocks, and 27 assists.
Martin, who garners her first Academic All-OAC award, is a psychology major who carries a 3.72 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Martin has appeared in 58 matches and has recorded 455 digs, 36 service aces, and 33 assists.
Moskowitz, who earns her first Academic All-OAC award, is a nursing and pre-physical therapy double major who carries a 3.77 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, Moskowitz has appeared in 22 matches and has recorded 71 digs, 64 assists, and 16 service aces.
Stebel, who garners her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a human resources management major who carries a 3.64 GPA. A Dean's List student, Stebel has been named to one all-tournament team and has appeared in 38 matches with 196 kills, 13 blocks, and three assists.
Zurbrugg, who earns her first Academic All-OAC selection, is an early childhood education major who carries a 3.68 GPA. An All-OAC player and Dean's List student, Zurbrugg has appeared in 47 matches and has tallied 324 kills, 50 digs, 36 blocks, and four assists.
