Volleyball Goes Unbeaten as the Champions of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team cruised to the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic title, hosted by the College of Wooster, improving to 12-0. Junior All-OAC middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) was named to the All-Tournament team. 

BW vs. Colby

The Yellow Jackets defeated Colby (Maine) College in straight sets: 25-18, 25-11, 25-11. The attack was led by freshman middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) as she had a match-high 11 kills, at a remarkable .786 hitting percentage. Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) tallied nine kills while Brown marked eight at a .500 hitting percentage. Facilitating the offense was junior setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont), who had a match-high 28 assists. Luciano had a match-high five service aces and Earl aced three.

Defending the back line was junior Academic All-OAC and All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South), who had a match-high 13 digs, while Earl dug up 12. Sophomore defensive specialist Morgan Martin (Seven Hills/Trinity) and Egan each recorded seven. Brown totaled three blocks, two assisted and Earl blocked two.

BW vs Pitt.-Bradford

BW defeated the University (Pa.) of Pitt.-Bradford in straight sets: 25-21, 25-15, 25-18. The offensive led by junior Academic All-OAC middle hitter Alexis Garrett (Mentor), as she set a career-high 14 kills, and Brown buried 12 attacks, at a .400 hitting percentage. Egan distributed 36 assists and had three service aces, as well as two blocks.

Reinhard led the match with 14 digs, while Egan and Martin each tallied 12. Brown shielded the net with two blocks.

Up next the Yellow Jackets will play Case Western Reserve University on Wednesday September, 18 at 7 pm. That weekend, BW will compete in the Hiram College Invitational, hosted by Hiram College. The first match will be on Saturday, September 21 against host, Hiram at 10 am. The second and final match of the Invite is against Penn St.-Altoona on that same Saturday at 12 pm.
