Volleyball Goes Undefeated in the Franklin College Tournament, Extends Winning Streak to Eight

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team won four straight in the Franklin College tournament, to extend its win streak to eight, inside the Spurlock Center. Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference middle hitter Taylor Brown (Maple Heights) was named tournament Most Valuable Player while junior setter Kathleen Egan (Cleveland/Beaumont) and sophomore outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) each earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.

BW vs Oglethorpe

BW defeated Oglethorpe (Ga.) College three sets to one; 25-21, 13-25, 17-25, 23-25. The attack was led by Stebel, as she had a match high 14 kills. Brown tallied 13 kills, at a .440 percentage, while sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) marked 11. Freshman middle hitter Isa Luciano (Willoughby/South) recorded seven kills as well. Egan  had 39 assists while junior Academic All-OAC and All-OAC libero Sarah Reinhard (Willoughby/South) totaled five.

Defensively, two Yellow Jackets recorded double digit digs. Reinhard marked 18 and Earl dug up 10. Sophomore outside hitter Kiely Walker (Fremont/Old Fort), Brown, Egan, and Luciano each had one block to defend the nylon.

BW vs Anderson

BW topped Anderson (Ind.) University in four sets; 25-19, 25-13, 23-25, and 25-13. Brown spearheaded the attack with 16 kills and freshman outside hitter Cecelia Stebel (Union/Northmont) tallied 10. Sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Ivy Earl (Howell, Mich.) recorded nine kills. Egan marked 40 assists and three service aces, while Earl had 9 aces.

Earl led the defense with 17 digs and Reinhard secured 12. Brown protected the net with five solo blocks and three assisted.                                                    

BW will hit the courts next on Friday, September 13 with a double-header to open the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, hosted by the college of Wooster. First match will be at 3:30 pm against Hiram College and Bluffton University will follow at 5:30 pm.
