Women's Basketball Halts Otterbein's Rally

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team held off Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 56-53 in the Rike Center.

BW (7-2, 4-0 OAC) was led by junior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg), who is this week's OAC Player of the Week, as she recorded her fifth straight and eighth career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Otterbein (3-6, 2-2 OAC) had three players score in double digits led by Olivia Majors as she scored a game-high 16 points.  Maizie King contributed 14 points and Katie McCrary contributed 10. 

1st Quarter (BW, 17-9)

  • BW outshot Otterbein 35.3 to 21.4 percent from the field
  • The Yellow Jackets won the rebound battle 18 to 4

2nd Quarter (BW, 33-19)

  • BW outshot the Cardinals 40.0 to 27.3 percent from the field
  • The Yellow Jackets won the rebound battle 12 to 2

3rd Quarter (BW, 44-42)

  • Otterbein outshot BW 62.5 to 40.0 percent from the field
  • The Cardinals won the rebound battle 9 to 5

4th Quarter (BW, 56-53)

  • Otterbein outshot BW 28.6 to 23.1 percent from the field
  • Both team grabbed eight rebounds apiece

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday and Thursday, December 20 and 21 when they travel to Miami Gardens, Florida to compete in the Cruzin Classic inside the Fernandez Family Center on the campus of St. Thomas University.  BW will take on Methodist (N.C.) University on December 20 at 3 p.m. and Rhode Island College on December 21 at 2 p.m.
