Two Women’s Basketball Student-Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) earned all-district honors and now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced on April 16, 2024.

Irwin, who garners her first accolade, appeared and started in all 29 games this season. She led the team with a career-high 65 assists and 49 three-pointers made.  Irwin was third on the team in scoring with 9.0 points-per-contest.  She recorded a career-best 62 rebounds and tallied 32 steals and career-high tying four blocks.   Irwin was an All-OAC honorable mention selection and was named to the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Chuck Resler All-Tournament Team on November 11.  For her career, Irwin has appeared in 83 games with 56 starts.  She has recorded 749 points, 148 assists, 156 assists, 133 rebounds, 89 steals and 11 blocks.  Irwin was 2023 All-OAC first-team honoree. Off the court, she is a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Ressler, who earns her first honor, appeared and started in all 29 games this season. She led the team in steals with a career-best 38.  Ressler was second on the squad with a career-high 7.0 rebounds-per-contest and third with a career-best 43 assists.  She also was second on the team in scoring with 9.3 points-per-game while she tallied 12 blocks.  Ressler was an All-OAC second-team selection, named the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Chuck Resler Tournament Most Valuable Player on November 11, the OAC Player of the Week on November 13 and to the OAC All-Tournament Team on February 24. For her career, Ressler has appeared in 77 games with 50 starts.  She has tallied 596 points, 449 rebounds, 102 assists, 71 steals and 39 blocks.  Ressler was a 2023 All-OAC honorable mention honoree. Off the court, she is a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

BW finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 22-7.  The Yellow Jackets were the OAC Regular Season Champions with a record of 16-2.  BW qualified for its fifth straight and 18th career NCAA Division III Tournament and advanced to its seventh all-time Sweet 16 appearance.
