Women's Basketball Salutes Four Senior Student-Athletes

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University Athletic Department and women's basketball program would like to congratulate senior student-athletes Lilly Edwards, Maighread Laliberte, Emily Lyon, and Megan Scheibelhut on completing their outstanding athletic and coaching careers at the University. Their hard work, dedication and commitment to the program is evident, and is greatly appreciated. These four athletes have made the NCAA National Tournament every year and helped BW to two OAC Regular Season titles and two OAC Tournament titles along with leading BW to its record-breaking 16th NCAA Tournament appearance. These young women have had solid careers not only athletically but academically as well. In addition, their leadership has been a key element.

The University also would like to thank the parents for their loyalty and support. Today, we also honor your hard work, commitment, and dedication as well.

The University administration, faculty and staff would like to wish all of you great success in all your future endeavors.

Lilly Edwards is an exercise science major from Dublin, Ohio and a graduate of Coffman High School. Edwards earned her fourth varsity letter this winter. Her favorite BW memory is beating John Carroll University in the OAC Championship title game her sophomore year. This year, she was named a D3hoops.com Fourth Team All-American, a Women's Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American Selection, D3hoops.com Preseason All-American, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-Region 7 team as well as the All-District 7 team for the second consecutive year, a First Team Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, and was the 2022 OAC Tournament MVP. In 2021, Edwards was named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American, a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region second-team selection, a first-team All-OAC selection and is a repeat Academic All-OAC athlete. In 2020, Edwards was also named All-OAC and in the 2018-19 season she was named OAC Freshman of the Year and All-OAC second-team. She has appeared in 97 games in her career and totaled 23 double-doubles. This season, she broke the BW Single Season Point record, posting 495, and the BW Field Goals Made record, tallying 186. She averaged the most points in the OAC (17.68) and was second in rebounds per game with 8.68. In her career, Edwards lands on a multitude of BW record lists, including: fourth in total points scored (1,357), third in points per game (13.99), seventh in total rebounds (730), fourth in rebounds per game (7.53), fifth in field goals made (523), fifth in field goal attempts (1,048), fourth in made free throws (308), third in free throws attempted (401), 14th in both field goal percentage (49.90%) and free throw percentage (76.81%). Off the court, Edwards is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society. Upon graduation, Edwards plans on starting in an accelerated nursing school program for which the school is to be determined. She also plans on doing everything she couldn't when she was a student-athlete ("like skiing," she says). Edwards is the daughter of Tim and Amy Edwards.

Maighread Laliberte is a neuroscience and biology double major and a psychology minor from Norway, Maine and a graduate of Oxford Hills High School. She earned her fourth varsity letter this winter. Her favorite BW memory was the OAC Tournament run and winning the OAC championship her sophomore year. Laliberte is a two-time Academic All-OAC selection. Laliberte has appeared in 49 games in her career and recorded career-highs in points (nine) and rebounds (four) last season against University of Mount Union. Laliberte is also a Dean's List student, Jacket scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honorary. She plans on taking a gap year and then finding a job as a psych tech after she graduates. Laliberte is the daughter of Jack Laliberte and Kate Herlihy.

 

   

Emily Lyon is a marketing and management major with a minor in international business from Medina, Ohio and a graduate of Highland High School. Lyon earned her fourth varsity letter this winter. Lyon's favorite BW memory is winning the OAC Tournament her sophomore year with all the fans in attendance. In her career, Lyon has appeared in 58 games and has totaled 135 points, 85 rebounds, 33 steals, and 21 assists. Lyon recorded all her career-highs this season including 12 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Off the court, Lyon is a Dean's List student and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honors society. Lyon plans on pursuing a career in marketing and management upon graduation. She is the daughter of Kevin and Amy Lyon.

 

 

 

Megan Scheibelhut is an exercise science major and athletic coaching minor from Avon Lake, Ohio and a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. She earned her fourth varsity letter this winter. Her favorite BW memory is winning the OAC Championship, beathing Chicago (Ill.) University in the NCAA DIII Tournament second round and being at Hope (Mich.) College with the team when the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. In her career, Scheibelhut has appeared in 99 games and totaled 388 points, 357 rebounds, 83 blocks, 46 assists, and 32 steals. She totaled a career-high 17 points in a home game against Heidelberg University and a career-high 12 rebounds against Wilmington College, both this season. This year, Scheibelhut was honored as an All-OAC Honorable Mention recipient. She named to the OAC All-Tournament team last season and is a repeat Academic All-OAC recipient. Off the court, Scheibelhut is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries. She is the daughter of Joe Scheibelhut and Kate McAleese.

 

 Baldwin Wallace again would like to thank Lilly Edwards, Maighread Laliberte, Emily Lyon, and Megan Scheibelhut as well as their parents and guardians for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to Yellow Jacket women's basketball. Your efforts have truly made a difference both on campus and on the basketball court.

The University also would like to wish each of you all the best of luck in your future endeavors and hope that even after graduation you come back and visit us often. You will always be a Yellow Jacket for Life (YJ4L).
