Brandon Eddy Named OAC Field Event Athlete of the Week For Second Straight Week

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University sophomore track standout Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights)was named today (Monday, February 6, 2012) as Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track Field Event Athlete-of-the-Week for the second consecutive week.  It also marks the third time this season that he has earned that honor.

Eddy earned his award for finishing first in both the pole vault and the high jump at the All-Ohio Meet on Saturday, February 11 at Otterbein University.    He won the pole vault with a vault  of 15' 1'' and he won the high jump as he jumped a season-best 6' 6.75''

Eddy won his first weekly honor  when he led the Yellow Jackets to the team title at the Annual Mid-January Meet on January 20. At that meet, he won the pole vault with a meet and school indoor-record vault of 16-feet, won the high jump with a leap of 6'2" and won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.97 seconds.

Eddy claimed is his second weekly honor after placing fifth and first of All-Division III competitors in the heptathlon at the University of Akron Combined Events Meet on February 3-4.  In that meet, he compiled what was at the time the best score in Division III  in the 7-event heptathlon when he accumulated a career-best 5,065 points and had five career-best performances for the seven events. Eddy's 5,065-point is currently second as he trails Caleb Cox of Illinois College by 361 points and leads the third place competitor by 51 points.

This Friday, Eddy and his teammates will conclude the regular season as they host the Annual Greater Cleveland Championship Meet on the Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 5:00 p.m.  The OAC Track and Field Championships will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25 in Clements Recreation Center on the campus of Otterbein University.
