GRINNELL, IOWA -- Two Baldwin Wallace University indoor track and field student-athletes, sophomore heptathlete Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights)and shot putters in junior Zach Marinucci (Brunswick), competed today (Saturday, March 10) on the second and final day of the 2012 NCAA Division III National Track & Field Championship Meet at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Highlighting the day was Eddy earning Division III All-American honors.
Eddy, who entered the meet ranked first nationally in the heptathlon, a seven-event and two-day competition, finished fourth as he scored 4,928 points. Today, he ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.78 seconds, pole vaulted 15'1" and ran the 1000 meters in 3:07.66. Yesterday, Eddy ran the 60-meter dash in 7.43 seconds, long jumped 20'8.5", high jumped a career-best 6'7.5" and threw the shot put 35'8.75". He stood third after the first day.
In the men's shot put, Marinucci narrowly missed earning All-America acclaim as he finished ninth with a throw of 54'2".
Yesterday and in addition to competing in the first day of the heptathlon, Eddy placed 11th individually in the pole vault with a vault of 15'3.5".
The BW track team has completed its indoor season. The outdoor season began this weekend as a number of men competed at the annual Coastal Carolina University Snowbird Invitational Meet in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Yellow Jackets are back in action next weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 16-17, when they compete at the annual University of North Carolina Charlotte 49er Invitational Meet.
