BW Men First After Day One of OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team is in first place after the first day of competition at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships inside the Clements Recreation Center on the campus of Otterbein University.  The OAC today, (Friday, February 24, 2012) crowned eight individual and two relay champions.  In addition, the top three relay teams and individuals in each event earn All-OAC honors for the 2012 season.

BW leads the men's team standings with 34 points, followed by Mount Union (32), Ohio Northern (30), Wilmington (20), John Carroll (16), Heidelberg (16), Muskingum (14), Otterbein (13), Capital (11) and Marietta (9).

For the men, junior All-American Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) won the weight throw with a throw of 58 feet and 4.50 inches and sophomore Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 15 feet and 2.25 inches.  Junior Ken Janosko (Mentor) finished third in the 3,000-meter run in a season-best time of 8:42.34.

The two-day championships conclude tomorrow, Saturday, February 25 when 28 more OAC Champions will be crowned. Action begins with the men's triple jump. The meet is expected to wrap up following the 4x400-meter relays at 5:10 p.m.
