UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO -- The BW men were third at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference East Split Squad Meet today (Saturday, March 31) on Wasmer Field in the Don Shula Stadium at John Carroll University. This was the third outdoor meet of the spring for the Yellow Jackets.
For the men, thrower Mitch Suppan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) would win the men's hammer throw with a throw of 180 feet and 3 inches.Suppan would also place second in the men's discus with a throw of 164 feet and 5 inches and third in the men's shot put with a throw of 50 feet and 2 inches. Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) finished first in the men's discus with a throw of 164 feet and 11 inches.Marinucci also finished second in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet and 7 inches and finished third in the hammer throw with a throw of 158 feet and 9 inches.
In addition to Suppan and Marinucci, the men's 4x100 relay team of Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/Medina Buckeye), Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview), Mike Smith (Wintersville/Indian Creek)and Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/St. Ignatius) placed first with a time of 42.54 seconds. Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time 9:47.37. Also placing second was Dannie Mack (Massillon/Washington) in the 400 meter hurdles. Mack finished with a time of 55.26 seconds.
The Yellow Jacket men are back in action next Saturday, April 7 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to participate in the Annual Ohio Wesleyan University Marv Frye Meet. Field events begin at 10:00 a.m. and running events start at 12:30 p.m.
