BW Junior Distance Ace Kenny Janosko Named CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District VII

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University junior and 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Co-Cross Country Runner of the Year Kenny Janosko (Mentor) has been named to the CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-District VII first-team and now qualifies for the CAPITAL ONE Division III National Academic All-America ballot.

The program is sponsored in conjuction with CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and CAPITAL ONE. Student-athletes are nominated and selected by the SIDs.  To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.30 grade point average, be a starter or key reserve who has appeared in more than half of his/ her teams games/ events.

Janosko, who carries a 3.74 grade point average in BW's 3:2 Master of Accounting Program, is one of the best distance runners in the OAC and Great Lakes Region of Division III. In addition to being the OAC's Co-Cross Country Runner of the Year, he was a two-time OAC Cross Country Runner of the Week, placed 66th of 279 runners at the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet, sixth of 253 runners at the Great Lakes Regional, second at the OAC Championships and fourth at the All-Ohio Meet.

In the classroom, Janosko is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Kappa Mu Epsilon and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies and is involved in the BW Accounting Association. Last week, he was named as an Academic All-OAC choice.

"This is an outstanding honor for Kenny and our track and field program," said veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Dr. Bill Taraschke. "We are very proud of his efforts.  It also is an example of what happens when a person works hard and has a great deal of perseverance.

"Each year, Kenny has made significant strides in the classroom and running," continued Taraschke.  "This fall, he had an outstanding season that culminated with his qualifying for the Division III national cross country meet and being named as Co-Runner of the Year. He also had a solid winter season before an injury ended his season.  We are looking forward to having Kenny back next fall to lead both the cross country and track teams."

Baldwin Wallace University has a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics and athletics. A total of eighty-one student-athletes have been named Academic All-America since the programs inception in 1970.  That total is the most of any Ohio Athletic Conference school and the second most of any small college in the state of Ohio.
