BW Sophomore Brandon Eddy Places Fifth At Akron Combined Events

AKRON, OHIO -- Sophomore Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) finished fifth overall in the heptathlon at the University of Akron Combined Events Meet, today (February 4, 2012). He was first of three Division III and Ohio Athletic Conference athletes competing in the event.

Eddy's score of 5,065 is currently the top mark in the heptathlon in Division III. He currently is 51 points ahead of Richard Roethel of Christopher Newport (Va.) University, who enter the weekend with the top score of 5,014.Eddy is also 1,542 points in front of Michael Cohara of Case Western Reserve University for third place with 4,523.

In day two, he competed in the 60-meter hurdles finishing in a time of 8.62 seconds to score 832 points. In perhaps his best event, the pole-volt, Eddy scored 849 points as he vaulted a height of 15 feet and 9 inches. In the 1000-meter run, which was his final event, he crossed the finish line in a time of 2:52.42 scoring 740 points.

On day one, Eddy competed in four events and scored 2,644 points. In the 60-meter dash, he scored 732 points as he crossed the finish line in a time of 7.44-seconds. Eddy scored 632 points with a long jump of 20-feet and 4.5-inches, 540 points with a shot put of 35'9.5" and 740 points with a high jump of 6'4".

Eddy and the rest of Yellow Jackets return home as they will host the annual BW Mid-February Meet on Friday, February 10 at 5:00 p.m.
