NAPERVILLE, ILL. -- Select Baldwin Wallace University individual performers competed on Thursday, May 17 at the North Central College Gregory Track and Field Invitational. The first of two straight "last chance" meets for those performers hoping to qualify for the The 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Claremont-Mud-Scripps (Calif.) College in Claremont, California from May 24-26.
Leading the way at the NCC Invitational was junior All-American thrower Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit)led the way as he placed first in the discus with a throw of 161-feet and five inches. Supan also finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 181'5".
In addition to Supan, junior Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) placed third in the discus with a mark of 157'.1". Junior Jake Buckey (Geneva) and Marinucciplaced 10th and 11th in the hammer throw with a marks of 162'00" (Buckey ) and 156'6" (Marinucci), respectively.
The 2012 regular season ended at the April 27-28 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet when both the BW men and women placed second of 10 schools.
BW's men student-athletes will get one more chance tomorrow (May 18, 2012) at Augustana to qualify for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Claremont-Mud-Scripps (Calif.) College in Claremont, California from May 24-26.
