BW Outdoor Track & Field Teams Compete at Ohio Wesleyan Ron Althoff Invitational

DELAWARE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track & field team competed at the unscored Ohio Wesleyan University Ron Althoff Invitational Meet today (Tuesday, May 15, 2012). The meet is utilized as a "Last Chance" meet for athletes to hit or better their NCAA Division III national qualifying marks.

To qualify for NCAA Division III meet, men running events must finish top 16 nationally and men's field events must finish top 20 nationally.

Highlighting the meet for BW was the men's 4x100 relay team consisting of senior Mike Smith (Wintersville/ Indian Creek)and sophomores Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/ Medina Buckeye)Josiah Holt (Elyria/ Grafton Midview) and Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) who finishing in first place by crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 41.74 seconds and ranking them 13th in NCAA Division III.

The final "last chance" meet takes place next week, on Friday, May 18 at North Central (Ill.) College for the Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Illinois.  The 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Claremont-Mud-Scripps (Calif.) College in Claremont, California from May 24-26.
