BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference North Split Meet tonight (Friday, January 27, 2012) on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center. The OAC North Split meet consisted of BW, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, the University of Mount Union and Ohio Northern University.
The Yellow Jacket men were led by, junior All-American thrower Mitch Supan (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) as he placed first in the weight throw and shot put with a marks of 57'4.75" and 52'00", respectively. Also in the shot put, senior Miles Moore (Gettysburg, Pa./Delone Catholic) finished second as he threw a distance of 48'10.75".
In addition to Supan, sophomore Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) placed first in one event and second intwo others. In the pole vault, he finished first with a height of 15'5". In the 55-meter hurdles, Eddy placed second with a time of 7.89 seconds and also took second in the high jump where he leaped a height of 6'2". In addition to Eddy in the pole vault, junior Jeremy Harris (Beechwood) tied for second as he cleared a height of 13'11.25".
In the running events for the men, junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Ken Janosko (Mentor) as he placed first in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:22.74. In the 4x200 relay, the team of sophomores Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/ Medina Buckeye), Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview) and Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/Cleveland St. Ignatius), and senior Mike Smith placed first in a time of 1:32.23. In the 500-meter dash senior Daniel Sloat (Medina) placed second as he crossed the finish line in a time of 1:09.51.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, February 4 when both teams will travel to Wooster to compete in the Fighting Scot Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster at 12:00 noon. The next home meet is on Friday, February 10 when the teams will host the annual Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:00 p.m.
