Storner Named OAC Defensive Player of the Week for Fourth Career Time

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier was named OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career.

The Yellow Jackets tallied three wins over the course of their spring break trip, defeating Southern Virginia University (10-4), Berry (Ga.) College (13-4), and Transylvania (Ky.) University (14-7).

Storner, who last week was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Dynamic Division III National Team of the Week, totaled 54 saves in the three wins. Storner allowed just 11 goals during his time on the field, averaging just 3.79 goals against and had an 83.1 save percentage. In each of the games, he totaled 18, 19, and 17 saves and against Transylvania he only allowed three goals. 

This season, Storner has racked up 96 saves, 11 ground balls, and two caused turnovers. In his career, Storner is the record holder at BW in All-Time Career Saves, totaling 504 over his four years and Career Save Percentage. He also is second at BW in the following categories: Career Goals Against Average, Career Minutes Played, Career Games Started, and Career Wins. Storner has also added 79 ground balls and six caused turnovers in his career. 

BW is back in action on Wednesday, March 15 as the team hosts Allegheny (Pa.) College for a non-conference game on the Tressel Field inside of the George Finnie Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
