WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) of the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team was voted the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and the sixth time in his career.

The Yellow Jackets earned two OAC wins last week with Storner in the net, defeating Ohio Northern University and Marietta College, to clinch at least a share of the 2023 OAC Regular Season Title. With the win over Marietta, BW notched its 14th record-breaking consecutive win, and tied the program record for total wins in a season.

Storner helped the Yellow Jackets to a 9-5 win over ONU by only allowing five goals in the 15 shots faced, totaling 10 saves. In the 14-5 win over the Pioneers, Storner faced 14 shots on goal and saved another 10, notching a .690 save percentage on the week.

Against Marietta, Storner broke his own 2022 record for Single Season Saves, now totaling 177 this season. He still leads All-Time in BW Men's Lacrosse history in career saves with 585. On the week, Storner averaged 4.79 goals allowed, and added four ground balls.

Currently, Storner ranks first in the OAC in save percentage (68.2%), first in goals-against average (5.92), first in wins (14), and first in goals against (83). This season, Storner has totaled 177 saves and 23 ground balls. He has a season-high 20 saves in the win over Berry (Ga.) College.

In his career, Storner has tallied 585 saves, 91 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers. In BW all-time men's lacrosse history, Storner is the record holder in saves and career save percentage. He also ranks second in minutes played as a goalkeeper, second in games started as a goalkeeper, second in total wins as a goalkeeper, and second in goals-against average. In 2022, Storner set the single season record for minutes played as a goalkeeper, starts, wins, saves, and the single game record in saves (21).

BW is back in action on Wednesday, April 26 as the team travels to Alliance to take on the University of Mount Union in an OAC showdown and the regular season finale. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. inside the Kehres Stadium.
