Men's Lacrosse Earns Eighth Straight Win With Victory Over Rival John Carroll

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team hosted crosstown rival John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. The Yellow Jackets rode a strong defensive performance to an 8-4 win over the Blue Streaks, in a rematch of the last four OAC tournament championship games. 

BW (8-2, 2-0 OAC) was led by freshman attack/midfield Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North), as he led all players with a game-high four points, including three goals and an assist. Senior All-OAC midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward) added two goals and an assist. In net, senior All-OAC goalkeeper Joe Storney (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) recorded seven saves and held the Blue Streaks to four goals, good for a save percentage of .636. 

The Yellow Jackets' outshot JCU 40-21, recorded a +15 turnover margin, and recovered 33 ground balls to the Blue Streaks' 17 in an all-around team performance. Senior attack/midfield Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) racked up a career-high seven ground balls to lead the gritty effort.

JCU (5-2, 1-1 OAC) senior midfielder Tanner Gill-Snow was the only Blue Streak to record multiple points, as he led JCU with two goals. Senior goalkeeper Jon Gaglio recorded 11 saves in the losing effort.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, April 1, as they travel to Westerville for an OAC contest against Otterbein University. Action is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.
