Men's Lacrosse Extends Win Streak, Defeats the Student Princes

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team faced Heidelberg University for an Ohio Athletic Conference contest inside of the Hoernemann Stadium. The Yellow Jackets' strong first half pushed them to a big 20-3 win over the Student Princes, increasing their win streak to 11 games. 

BW (11-2, 5-0 OAC) was led by junior Academic All-OAC attack/midfielder Keaton Trout (Pickerington/North) as he led the team with seven points (foul goals, three assists). Senior All-American midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward) totaled five points, four goals and an assist, while senior All-Region attack/midfielder Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) also tallied four goals. 

Heidelberg (3-8, 0-5 OAC) was led by sophomore midfielder Tyler Alexander and graduate attack Connor Reese as they each scored a goal and tallied an assist.

1st Quarter

12:16 – BW got on the board first with a score by Byerly, unassisted
11:26 – A score by K. Trout, assisted by freshman attack/midfielder Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North)
7:50 – BW's Aquilla scored his first goal of the game earning BW the 3-0 lead
4:44 – Heidelberg goal by Alexander, assisted by Reese
3:38 – Another goal by Aquilla, assisted by K. Trout
1:54 – Yellow Jackets' score by senior attack/midfielder Olin Ferguson (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington), assisted by sophomore midfielder Ryan Yanssens (Lexington, S.C./River Bluff), closing the first quarter (5-1) 

2nd Quarter 

11:00 – BW's Byerly earned his second goal of the game
9:34 – The Yellow Jackets got a score by Aquilla, putting BW up 7-1
9:03, 6:31, & 6:21 – Three straight goals by K. Trout extended the Yellow Jacket lead to 10-1
4:35 – Another score by Byerly, assisted by K. Trout
3:55 – Aquilla scored his fourth of the day, unassisted
2:56 – A BW score by B. Trout, assisted by junior midfielder Noah Bartos (Lancaster, N.Y.), put BW up 13-1
1:05 – BW's freshman attack/midfielder Keyan Moser (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) got on the board with a goal, assisted by K. Trout (man-up)
0:03 – Byerly notched his fourth of the day, assisted by Aquilla, to close the first half (15-1 BW)

3rd Quarter

7:44 & 0:30 – Heidelberg tallied the only goals in the third quarter, scored by Septer and Reese 

4th Quarter

14:11 – BW's Ferguson scored his second of the day, assisted by Yanssens (16-3)
11:34 – Yellow Jackets scored with a goal by senior Academic All-OAC attack Kaleb Delaney (Buffalo, N.Y./Akron)
3:28 – BW's Delaney tallied another goal to extend the BW lead
3:20 – Freshman attack/midfielder Jake Koonmen (Fairport, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the day, assisted by Moser
1:30 – The Moser/Koonmen duo notched another goal, this time scored by Moser and assisted by Koonmen, as BW went on to win 20-3 

The Yellow Jackets return to the field on Saturday, April 15 when the team hosts Capital University for another OAC matchup. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside of the George Finnie Stadium.
