Four Men’s Lacrosse Athletes Named to IMLCA All-Region 4 Team

DURHAM, N.C. – Four Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse student-athletes have been selected to the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-Region 4 team.

Senior midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward), senior defenseman Neil Randall (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Palos Verdes), and senior goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) were all named to the second team. Senior attackman Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named honorable mention. 

Aquilla, who repeats on the IMLCA All-Region list and was recently named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America honoree, earned his third consecutive first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolade this season. Aquilla was second on the team this year in total points (51), second on the team in assists (19), and third on the team in goals scored (32). He also added 32 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. 

Before the commencement of this season, Aquilla was named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, and he earned IMLCA All-Region and USILA All-America honors last season as a short stick defensive midfielder. All-time at BW, Aquilla ranks 9th in caused turnovers (42), 11th in goals scored (47), 12th in assists (28), 13th in points (75), 14th in ground balls (101), and T16th in games played (56).

Randall also repeats on the IMLCA All-Region team and was honored as a USILA All-American this year. He earned his third consecutive first team All-OAC honor this year. Randall again led the team and the OAC in caused turnovers (47) and was third on the team in ground balls (51).

He was named the OAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, and this season broke BW's All-Time Caused Turnovers Record. Randall now totals 140 in his career, ranks fifth in ground balls (157), and T16th in games played at BW. He was also named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American this year, and last year was an IMLCA All-Region honoree. Off the field, Randall was just recently named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.

Storner earns his first IMLCA All-Region honor and was recognized as a USILA All-American after being named the 2023 OAC Defensive Player of the Year. He also landed on the All-OAC first team for the second time in his career. This year, Storner led all of Division III and the OAC in save percentage (67.1%) and goals against average (6.24). He also led the OAC in goals against (102), wins (16), games played and started (19), and was second in total saves (217).

This season, he broke his own single season record in saves, wins, starts, and save percentage. Storner was also named the OAC Defensive Player of the Week four times this season and was selected to the USILA/Dynamic Team of the Week two times. 

In his career, Storner has totaled 624 saves, being the first Yellow Jacket to surpass the 600-mark. All-time, He also ranks first in save percentage (62.7%), second in goals against average (7.55), second in wins (42), second in minutes played (2,955:44), second in starts as a goalkeeper (56), tenth (all players) in career games played (58), and 17th in career ground balls (97). Storner also holds this single game record in saves, notching 21 saves twice. 

Byerly earns his second consecutive IMLCA All-Region award, and this year also earned first team All-OAC honors for the second consecutive season. Byerly totaled 46 points this year (33 goals and 13 assists) and notched his 100th career goal in the win over Marietta College. He also added 24 ground balls on the year and ranked ninth in the OAC in goals scored.

In addition, Byerly was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Week on March 21, 2022. In his career, Byerly ranks second in goals (109), first in goals per game (2.06), third in shots on goal (192), third in total points (169), fourth in points per game (3.19), fourth in assists (60), fourth in assists per game (1.13), and 20th in games played (53).

BW finished the record-breaking 2023 season as the OAC Regular Season Champions for the third consecutive season as they posted a 16-3 record with a 9-0 mark in the OAC.
