Baldwin Wallace's Paul Glass Earns ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District Honors

BEREA, OHIO --  Baldwin Wallace University senior basketball student-athlete Paul Glass (Medina/ Senior) has been named to the 2009-10 ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV team as a second-team choice.

Student-athletes qualify for the team by being a starter or key reserve and maintaining a minimum 3.3 grade point average. Voting is conducted by Sports Information Directors in District IV which comprises the states of Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

Glass, a 6'3" small forward who maintains a 3.69 grade average in pre-physical therapy, is a team captain and four-year varsity player for the Yellow Jackets. He has scored 464 career points, grabbed 217 rebounds, passed for 68 assists and made 45 steals.

This season, Glass is having his best season as a Yellow Jacket as he is averaging a career-high 7.7 ppg. and grabbing 3.3 rpg. with 22 assists and 18 steals.

"Paul is a great team-leader, an unselfish student and player who puts his team first and well ahead of any personal recognition," said second-year Head Coach Duane Sheldon, who himself was an Academic All-OAC student-athlete as a collegian at BW in the early-to-mid 1900s.

"Paul has an outstanding work ethic and is a strong role model for our younger players. He is well-respected on campus, in the classroom and athletic training room and definitely in our basketball program. We congratulate Paul on an honor well-deserved."

Glass and the Yellow Jackets, 12-8 overall and 7-6 in the OAC, take a two-game win streak on the road to Columbus on Saturday, Feb. 6 to play Capital in the Capital Center at 2:00 p.m.  Glass also has helped the BW men win eight of its last 11 contests including hitting the game-winning overtime buzzer-beater on Wednesday night versus Heidelberg University. 

Baldwin Wallace University has a rich tradition of excellence in the classroom and on the athletic areas with 78 student-athletes having been chosen as Academic All-Americans since the programs inception in 1972. The 78 total Academic All-Americans is the most of any OAC school and the second most of any small college or university in Ohio.
