Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at the SPIRE Midwest Open

GENEVA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed at the SPIRE Midwest Open hosted by SPIRE Institute. The meet was unscored.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:14.56
  • Junior All-OAC runner Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) finished second in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash, with a time of 25.62 in the 200-meter and 59.23 in the 400-meter
  • Freshman Bri Hay (Miami, Fla. / Miramar) placed fifth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.01

Field event highlights:

  • Junior Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) finished fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 47 feet and 3 inches

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x400 meter relay squad, MurphyCollier, sophomore Morgan Aloi  (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview), and sophomore Katie Plecko (Rootstown) finished third in a time of 4:05.96. This is the fourth best 4x400 meter relay finish in the history of the indoor track and field program.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. as they host the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
