ALLIANCE, Ohio - Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet inside of Kehres Stadium. Each student-athlete competed in order to obtain a qualifying mark to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships next week.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Freshman All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Rylee Barno (Columbus / Bexley) placed sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:22.33.
- Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown) finished seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:24.20.
Field events highlighted:
- Freshman All-OAC thrower Amyah Chosa (Jemez Pueblo, N.M. / Jemez Valley) placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 13.27 meters.
- Junior All-OAC thrower Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 11.32 meters. Torres also competed in the hammer throw, placing eighth with a mark of 41.17 meters.
Junior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) competed at the Augustana (Ill.) Midwest Twilight Qualifier. In the 200-meter dash, Collier finished ninth in a time of 25.07.
BW will now wait and see which student-athletes qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships, hosted May 23-25 by Coastal Carolina (S.C.) University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
